すべてがJ. Piagetから始まる構成主義の系譜に合流しようとしているかのように感じる．

たとえばL. Lessigが「Freedom to tinker」といって、情報に直に触れることの重要性を説いているが、同じことをPapertもPaskもvon Feursterもずっと前から構成主義のわくぐみのなかで構築してきた．

触れてみないと自分という領土のなかに内包できない．手で触れられるものは分かりやすい．だからこそテで触れられるということは大切だといえるし、同時に手で触れられないものに形を与えることも同様に重要なんだ、ということ．

It is a quite intriguing fact that in Japanese, the words for Creativity and Imagination pronounce the same. When you deconstrcut the first, 創造力, you have 創 that stands for "establishing / initiating / founding" something, and 造 meaning "to fabricate". The latter, 想像力, consists of 想 that means "to think of", and 像 standing for "image", "figure", "shape". It is especially interesting that each of these modules can be inter-related separately.

I guess 創造 is a relatively new translation of the english word "creation" as in the Bible, probably made in the early Meiji era when English was introduced (after the Dutch) by the arrival of the Americans. As an atheistic person, I'm not getting married with this biblical impression of the term Creation, especially since I believe in building upon rather than creating from nothingness (as if you are God almighty).

Thus, I will try to use as many times as possible, as far as it's appropriate, the term 想造力 which is a mash up of creativity and imagination in Japanese: 想造 meaning materializing your thinking. 創像, in turn, would mean 'initiating an image', which I do not dislike that much at the end either.

日本語において creativityとimaginationが同じ発音であること（創造と想像）は外国人にとって、興味深い．たぶん明治期に翻訳された語彙のひとつである創造という言葉のもつ聖書的な意味合い（i.e. 創世記）は、非宗教者としては抵抗を感じ続けている．（天才でも神でもない）私は無から何も生み出せないが、creativityが皆無ではない気もする．むしろ過去や現在の他者の論考や仕事を見て、その集積の上に自分の全ての活動が乗っかっているイメージに近い．その意味で、自分にとってのcreativityは、imaginationである想像とも関係する．だから、「想造」という言葉を、出来る限り使ってみることにする．頭のなかで想ったり、想起したりすることと、具体的に造り出し、形を作っていくということは矛盾しないだろうし、むしろ連続的に捉えたほうがリアルだろう．でも一方で、「創像」という、「像の形成を創始する」というイメージも的外れではないように考える．なので、文脈に応じて使い分けてみることにする．
